What car detailing services do we offer?
— CK Detailing Services —
Protection, enhancement and correction detailing to suit all vehicles.
There are many factors which result in you vehicle's paintwork and finish beginning to look lifeless and dull such as poor wash technique, automotive machine washes, weather and of course general ''wear and tear''. Swirl marks or cob-webbing are the most noticed defect, these are usually highlighted on a bright sunny day when you expect your vehicle to look its best. Paint defects such as scratches, swirls, holograms and marring are inflicted by surface contaminants being dragged over the paintwork resulting light scratches that sap the gloss, clarity and general ''life'' out of your paintwork.
What is the difference between Valeting and detailing?
Please do not confuse Valeting with Detailing. Traditional valeting services are usually based on low cost, low quality wash and wax services aimed at the masses. However, there are now an ever increasing number of detailing services being offered to more discerning customers, with a shift in emphasis towards specialist techniques such as paint correction and the use of premium products for paint protection. Such services are much more time consuming and require a much greater degree of skill, meaning that they are usually more expensive. However, because the value of used vehicles is greatly affected by the condition of the bodywork, wheels and interior, such work usually pays for itself, particularly on prestige and performance vehicles.
Valeting usually takes around 1/2 a day at maximum, Detailing will take much longer than this (more than a week in some cases) ensuring that you are provided with a fresh base to care for, giving you the maximum protection and the ultimate finish. CK Car Care uses the very finest products that combine the best looks with durability delivering unrivalled results first time, every time.
Benefits of getting your car detailed
Getting your car detailed not only makes your car look stunning but it also has extra benefits such as:
- Makes future cleaning easier and quicker
- Prevents corrosion, as you are protecting your car with a high quality wax/sealant the paintwork effectively has a barrier layer over the clear coat protecting it against the elements, so fading, corrosion and rusting is greatly reduced/prohibited. Therefore your vehicle will last longer
- Greatly enhances the re-sale value
- And of course, makes your vehicle look showroom fresh and stand out from the crowd.
Value for money
There are now an increasing number of detailing services being offered, with a shift in emphasis towards more specialist services such as paint defect correction and high quality paintwork protection. Such work is more time consuming and requires a far greater degree of skill, so is therefore usually more expensive. However, with the condition of the bodywork, wheels and interior affecting the residual value of used cars, such work usually pays for itself.
You may be able to find cheaper ''paint correction details'' at your local body shop for £100. What they will most likely do is use a combination of a hard compounding/wool pad and some heavy compound which may not be necessary on your vehicle, in return leaving a finish full of holograms; as a result you will then have to pay a professional detailer to do the job correctly at a higher price. So instead of say paying £300 for a professional to do the job right in the first place, you end up paying £100 and then £300.
Paint correction is a very time consuming process and it's paramount that it is done safely, this means using a PTG (paint thickness gauge) and checking the depth of the paint as well as testing various pad/polish combinations (starting with the lightest polishes and working up the grades).
There is no point in removing more paint than necessary to reach the level of correction you desire. I have seen many people doing this and it is not necessary! All you are doing is jeopardizing the lifespan of the vehicles paint/clear coat, as a result making any future repair/detail work almost impossible. Even if the job takes longer it is paramount it is done safely otherwise there can be severe consequences.
The skill of the detailer is to achieve the best possible correction with removing as little amount of clear coat in the process.
